Day One

Arrival Arusha

Arusha Coffee Lodge

Receive a warm welcome on arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, an hour outside the city of Arusha. Transfer to your luxurious lodge to recover from your travels. Situated on the Burka Coffee estate, Arusha Coffee Lodge is a working plantation that spans some 21,000 acres and features 21 private chalets, each with en-suite facilities, including shower, bath, and separate toilets.

Arusha is a city in East Africa's Tanzania, located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It's a gateway to safari destinations and to Africa's highest peak, 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro, lying some 100 kilometers northeast. To the west lies Serengeti National Park, home to wildlife including lions, rhinoceros, giraffes and leopards. Annual migrations feature huge herds of wildebeests crossing its plains.

Days Two - Four

Eastern Serengeti

Namiri Plains Camp

Your flight this morning takes you up over the rift valley escarpment, where you can look down on the magnificent cauldron of the Ngorongoro Crater and out onto the endless plains of the Serengeti. Your destination is the area between the eastern highlands and the sprawling plains of the Serengeti, an area off limits to all activities except research of the big cats! Newly opened to allow guests to take part in the action as coalitions of cheetah chase their prey in the golden grasses of the Serengeti. Over the next three day’s you’ll head out on night and day game drives to explore the area and meet the characters of this terrain face to face. From June-November the great Wildebeest Migration passes through this area making it also a spectacular location to take in this natural procession of 1.5 million animals. Nights are spent sharing stories around a camp fire and enjoying deliciously prepared meals by the hands of top notch bush cooks. Namiri Plains camps has only 6 spacious canvas sided tents, large comfortable beds and fully ensuite bathroom facilities, ensuring your stay will be an intimate and memorable experience.

Days Five - Six

Northern Serengeti

Sayari Camp

A short flight takes you to the northern extreme of the Serengeti National Park, where Sayari Camp lies perfectly positioned for you to see the migration river crossing in the dry season. A welcome table will be set up either at the airstrip or a short distance away, with tea & coffee, cold drinks and snacks allowing you to refresh while you get to know your guide and learn about this area of the Serengeti. Depending on your preference, you may enjoy a short game drive or head directly for camp. Located in the Northern Serengeti far from other camps, Sayari Camp has an exclusive location near the Mara River. When the migration is nearby (usually June-July and August-September) you’ll have excellent opportunities to see wildebeest crossing the river. In this habitat of long plains you’ll find herds of elephant, families of lion and cheetah, and large groups of antelopes and other plains animals. Open vehicles, off-road driving and expert walking guides at Sayari ensure that your time here will be well spent

Day Seven

Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Rekero Camp

After breakfast in camp board a flight to Tarime Airstrip, near the Isebania border post between Kenya and Tanzania. A car will wait for you there to transfer you to the border where you’ll clear immigration and continue to the Isebania airstrip in Kenya. From Isebania fly to the Maasai Mara and touch down at the landing strip where your guide from Rekero awaits. On your short drive to Rekero your guide will give an overview of this special area near the confluence of two rivers. Rivers are the lifeline of the Maasai Mara Reserve, where animals slake their thirst and often congregate for safety against predators. Upon arrival at camp you will be briefed on camp procedures and shown to your tent. Freshen up and then it’s time for lunch beside the river on the green grass of Rekero. After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive, returning in the evening for drinks and dinner.

Days Eight - Ten

Maasai Mara Game Reserve

No other place on earth compares with the multitudes of wild animals found in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, part of the vast Serengeti ecosystem spanning Kenya and Tanzania. During the summer months (approx July – September), the Great Migration comprised of 1.5 million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebra make the Maasai Mara their home. Outside of the migration months the plains are home to resident herds of ungulates as well as predators including lions, cheetah, leopard, and hyena. Maasai giraffe and impala graze in the woodlands and hippos and crocodiles bask along the shores of the Talek River. Rekero’s location near the confluence of the Mara and Talek rivers make it an excellent spot for wildlife, so good that documentary filmmaker’s base here including the Big Cat Diary and Disney’s African Cats. Rekero believes in high quality guiding and has won awards as the best safari guiding team in Africa.

Day Eleven

Transfer to Nairobi

Onward Departure

After your last breakfast at Rekero transfer to the airport for your flight to the domestic airport in Nairobi. Here you’ll be met by a driver for the transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta International airport from where you’ll catch your international flight home. Meals Included: Breakfast.
